Center Glow Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'Center Glow') is a fast-growing, hardy deciduous shrub (Zones 3–7) known for its striking foliage, which emerges bright yellow-green with red centers before maturing to deep burgundy-red. Growing 6–8 feet tall and wide, this cultivar offers multi-season interest with spring white-pink flowers, red autumn seedpods, and exfoliating winter bark. 

Key Features and Characteristics

  • Foliage: Leaves are 3-lobed, maples-like, and change color from yellow-green to maroon throughout the season, providing a vibrant, multi-toned effect.
  • Flowers & Fruit: Small, pinkish-white flower clusters appear in late spring/early summer, followed by showy red capsules (seedpods) in fall.
  • Bark: Features attractive, peeling, exfoliating bark in shades of tan and reddish-brown, which provides,winter interest.
