'Jersey Giant' asparagus is a high-yielding, cold-hardy, all-male hybrid (Zones 3-8) known for producing large, tender green spears with purple bracts. It offers exceptional resistance to rust and fusarium crown/root rot. This perennial thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and typically produces 2–3 times more than older varieties.

Planting and Care

Planting: Plant dormant, 2-year-old crowns in early spring. Dig trenches 6–8 inches deep, place crowns 18 inches apart, and cover with 2–3 inches of soil, filling in the trench as the plant grows.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist for the first two years to establish strong roots.
Harvesting: Allow plants to establish for 2–3 years before harvesting to ensure long-term productivity.
Maintenance: In late fall or early winter, cut back the ferny, 4-5 foot tall foliage after it turns brown.
