The Bloodgood Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood') is a popular, deciduous, small tree or large shrub known for its reliable, deep red-burgundy foliage that persists through summer. Growing 15–20 feet tall and wide, it features an upright, rounded canopy and prefers full sun to partial shade in USDA zones 5-8. It is a low-maintenance, hardy tree suitable for specimen planting, providing year-round interest.

  • Color: Deep purple-red in spring, holding its color through summer, and turning brilliant red in autumn.
  • Size & Growth: Slow to moderate growth, typically reaching 15-20 feet in height and spread, with a similar, often wider canopy.
